Richard Liu graduated from three different campuses: the Renmin University of China, the University of Windsor, and China Europe International Business School. He was honored with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, and an Executive MBA, respectively.

JD.com, led by Liu Qiangdong is authorized to sell a wide range of brands of products and services, with millions of units. Mr. Liu and his team have increased their customer base every year since their founding by selling products at a price that does not compromise on quality or service but is still considered affordable for consumers. JD.com is known for its quick delivery of orders placed online.

JD.com also offers online insurance services for those who purchase everyday items such as clothing, watches, electronics, etc. While at school, Richard saw an opportunity to start his own business after becoming familiar with email and web browsing through the university computer network. He decided to try his hand at e-commerce and started an online store selling computer parts.

Liu quickly expanded into other computer parts. He began by selling computer parts to customers from his dorm room, and the company remains headquartered in Beijing. JD.com has grown tremendously in the past few years; it is one of the largest internet companies in China, which brings goods and consumers together at reasonably low prices instead of raking in heaps of profit by middleman’s discount that can be passed on to the client through the higher price tag.
