Kelcy Warren was born in 1943 as the youngest of seven children. He began his career as a coal miner in 1963. At the age of 25 he began investing in various businesses and at 18 he became a United States citizen. He is now the CEO of Energy Transfer Partners and Sunoco, which are among America’s largest natural gas distributors. Warren donated $3 million to Donald Trump’s inauguration celebration, which amassed over half a billion dollars for that event by itself. Kelcy Warren is an amazing businessman, and also an advocate for racial equality and inclusion within corporations. Warren is also an active donor to colleges and universities. He has donated to Holy Cross, the University of North Texas and Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Kelcy Warren grew up in a coal mining town called Dodd City, which only had 200 residents and was economically devastated after World War II. He worked in the mines during his summer vacations. He started college when he was 19 but ended up dropping out due to financial reasons. After working in the coal mines for five years, he married his wife, Judy. They had four children together between 1963 and 1969.

After he got laid off from working in the coal mines, he began believing that God wanted him to be a successful businessman. He started his first business when he was 25 years old with a $1,000 loan. This company sold sand and gravel to local businesses. Warren’s success in this venture led him to start several other businesses. He got his first taste of the energy industry when he worked for US Steel as a sales representative for two years.
